VDV Academy and STUVA: Seminar on accessibility in public transport

On 19 and 20 March 2025, the VDV Academy and STUVA are jointly organising a specialist seminar on the important innovations of the adopted Accessibility Improvement Act (BFSG). Local public transport is part of public services and must therefore be accessible to everyone in Germany. Local public transport is part of public services and must therefore be accessible to everyone in Germany. In mid-2025, the BFSG (Accessibility Reinforcement Act) will come into force, which supplements existing legal requirements for accessibility and includes extended specifications for products and services from the digital media sector and in business transactions.

It is important for people with mobility impairments to be able to get information quickly and easily when travelling. But passengers without disabilities also benefit from easy-to-read timetables or route maps, comprehensible announcements or easy-to-use apps and devices.

The event, which is jointly organised by the VDV Academy and STUVA, will take place on 19 and 20 March 2025 and focusses on the topic of accessible communication and information in public transport:

  • To whom and which areas do the requirements from the BFSG apply?
  • How can passenger information be made comprehensible for all passengers?
  • What options are there for preparing staff to communicate and interact with passengers with mobility impairments in particular?
  • How can the target group be involved in the development of solutions?

We cordially invite experts from transport companies, organisations representing the interests of people with disabilities, IT development and design to discuss an inclusive future in public transport.
