Noise and vibration protection in rail transport
New tramway or railway projects, as well as extensions or renewals of existing lines, can be implemented much more easily if adequate noise and vibration protection is planned from the outset. After all, this protects the affected population along the construction project from considerable nuisance. However, suitable and necessary protective measures require those responsible to have a good knowledge of the basic technical possibilities.
How do disturbing vibrations and airborne noise actually occur in rail traffic, how do they spread and, above all, how can such emissions and immissions be reduced? These are the basic questions to which the seminar offers helpful answers. Participants will learn about numerous standards and guidelines, but also how vibrations can be measured and evaluated in concrete terms or how curve noise can be generated and reduced. The influence of track superstructures on emissions will be examined as well as sensible noise reduction measures on tracks and wheels through the use of rail web dampers or a composite brake sole. The focus of the two-and-a-half-day seminar is always on the protection of residents from rail traffic noise. The event will be enhanced by a tour of the nearby urban railway line.
