Basic safety concepts for the bridge and tunnel variants

Among other measures, a Rhine crossing is required for the second construction phase of the U81 in Düsseldorf. Both a bridge and a tunnel solution are to be examined as part of the preliminary planning.

STUVAtec was initially commissioned by the state capital of Düsseldorf to compile the fire protection requirements for both variants from the relevant BOStrab, DIN 5647 and TRStrab fire protection regulations with regard to the safety concept. STUVAtec will then assess the bridge and tunnel variants under consideration from a fire protection perspective and develop corresponding evacuation concepts. The preferred tunnel or bridge option will then be developed in consultation with the technical supervisory authority and the fire department.
