STUVA Award 2025 goes to the ‘U5 Hamburg Project’
With this award, STUVA honours a project that exemplifies forward-looking mobility, sustainable construction and partnership-based cooperation. Currently the largest underground railway project in Germany, it will create a high-performance east-west connection with 22 stops over a distance of around 25 kilometres. With its fully automated operation at 90-second intervals, it will create important new links in the urban transport network. It will offer up to 315,000 passengers a day fast, barrier-free and reliable mobility.
The STUVA Young Talent Award 2025 goes to Dr Gabriel Lehmann
As the winner of the preliminary selection and the presentation competition on the fascination of tunnel construction, Dr Gabriel Lehmann (Herrenknecht AG) wins the award for his contribution ‘TBM tunnelling in hard rock: rock preconditioning with microwaves’. The final selection was made on the basis of an evaluation by the audience at the presentation event, with the content of the presentation, the type of visual presentation and the manner of presentation being taken into account in the assessment. Dr Lehmann impressed in all areas. The prize consists of a trip to the extraordinary construction site of the Snowy 2.0 underground pumped storage power station, the largest renewable energy storage project in Australian history.
