2nd Forum Tunnel Construction at the RWTH Aachen on 18 June 2020

"Farewell lecture" for university professor Dr.-Ing. Martin Ziegler in the Faculty of Civil Engineering

In autumn 2016, on the occasion of the opening of the Gotthard Base Tunnel, the first Forum Tunnel Construction had taken place at the RWTH Aachen University on "Experiences and Lessons from Major Projects" with the accompanying exhibition "Historical Alpine Pricks".

Five years later, it is high time for a new edition dedicated to another "historic" event: the farewell of Professor Martin Ziegler, who will retire at the end of September 2020 after having headed the Chair of Geotechnics in Civil Engineering and the Institute of Foundation Engineering, Soil Mechanics, Rock Mechanics and Waterway Engineering for more than 20 years.

The event originally planned for September 2020 had to be postponed to June 18, 2021 due to the corona pandemic. We cordially invite you to reserve the date in the calendar to listen to interesting lectures on current topics from tunnel construction, to meet old and new colleagues and to join them in saying goodbye to Martin Ziegler in his well-deserved "retirement". The Tunnel Construction Forum is organised by the Chair of Geotechnics in Civil Engineering and the Förderverein der Geotechnik im Bauwesen der RWTH Aachen e.V. under the patronage of STUVA e.V. and the Centre for German and International Construction and Civil Engineering Law CBTR e.V..

The contributions will be published in the Institute's communication series.
